Coordinator
One ongoing conversation that starts, follows and steers your team leads, from your desk or your phone.
The Coordinator is a conversation that lives in a sidebar next to the canvas. Instead of managing each team lead pane yourself, you tell the Coordinator what you want. It starts team leads, sends them instructions, follows their progress and tells you when one finishes, hits an error, runs out of usage or has a question.
The Coordinator is experimental. It's on by default for new installs.
Open it
- Show or hide the Coordinator with CmdLCtrlL, wherever it's docked. Hiding it keeps your draft, queued messages, scroll position and any running turn. In a focused terminal on Windows and Linux, CtrlLCtrlL still clears the terminal; use the panel button or the right-pane shortcut CmdShift\CtrlShift\ instead (that toggles whichever panel is on the right).
- Turn it on or off with Settings → Agents → Enable Coordinator.
- Coordinator in left pane docks it on the left and moves the workspace explorer to the right.
- Auto-follow team leads lets it follow new GUI team leads automatically. Terminal (TUI) team leads aren't followed; the Coordinator only hears when their terminal goes quiet.
A Coordinator conversation works either in one project or across all your local projects. Use the header to start a new conversation or reopen an earlier one from its history. In a long conversation, Show earlier messages loads older turns.
What it can do
- Start and steer teams. It starts team leads, picks the harness, model and account for each team lead and worker, and sends new instructions while they work.
- Stop work. Ask it to stop a team lead, or a team lead and its whole team. The panes stay open and resumable, and messages AgentGrid was still holding for them are dropped. One exception: a Codex team lead running in a terminal keeps its own queue, so input it had already accepted can't be withdrawn and may still run. Check that pane after stopping it.
- Suggest next steps. When a turn ends, one-tap suggestions can appear above the message box. Tap one to send it.
- Run on a schedule.
/loop,/scheduleand/goalwork here as in any GUI pane, and the Coordinator can put its team leads on a schedule too. Its loops show in the Explorer's Loops section, wait while the account is out of usage, and the Coordinator can pause or stop them itself. See Slash commands. - Update AgentGrid. Ask it to "update AgentGrid", from your desk or your phone. It tells you which version you're on, whether an update is ready, and which agents are still working, and it restarts only when you confirm. After the restart it posts "Updated to vX" in the same conversation.
- Answer questions about AgentGrid. The Coordinator, team leads and workers can search this documentation, even offline, when you ask how AgentGrid works.
The Coordinator runs as the account you choose in its model picker. If that model runs out of usage, Auto-switch can move it to your next starred model.
Talk to it
Start a voice call with the Coordinator from its call button. When the call ends, a wrap-up summary is sent into the conversation so the Coordinator can act on what you discussed. See Voice mode.
Usage AI is a Coordinator conversation about your usage. Open it from Usage history (see Usage indicator) and ask which teams used the most; See on canvas jumps to the team lead it's talking about.
Your phone
The AgentGrid iPhone app is in TestFlight beta. To join, open Settings → Devices, find Get AgentGrid for iPhone and select Request access. We send TestFlight invites by hand to the email on your AgentGrid account.
Sign in on the phone with the same AgentGrid account. The phone reaches your computer through the AgentGrid relay, so it doesn't need to be on the same network. Settings → Devices → Remote Control (AgentGrid app) lists the phones signed in to your account with when each was last seen, and warns you when the relay can't be reached. From the phone you can follow your projects, message the Coordinator and team leads, attach photos and files, and see the Coordinator's loop with its next run, then pause, resume or stop it.
Remote Control
There are two kinds of remote control:
- Remote Control (AgentGrid app) is the iPhone app above.
- Remote Control (Claude) lets you drive a Claude session from claude.ai/code or the Claude mobile app. Type
/rc(optionally/rc <name>) in a Claude team lead, or in a Coordinator running on Claude. A bar shows the session link, the account it runs on and its state; select off or type/rc offto stop it. If AgentGrid restarts, Remote Control (Claude) comes back on by itself for every pane and Coordinator conversation that had it on, so your phone or claude.ai session keeps working. Turning it off is remembered too.
