Auto-switch

Keep a turn going on your next starred model when the current one runs out of usage.

When an agent's turn stops because its model ran out of usage, Auto-switch retries that same prompt on the next model in your starred list. You don't have to notice the failure, pick another model, and paste the prompt again.

Turn it on

  1. Open the model picker on an agent pane or the Coordinator.
  2. Select the ★ rail button to show your starred models.
  3. Below the list, check Auto-switch.

Auto-switch is off until you turn it on. The setting applies to every agent.

The order is your starred list

Your starred models are listed top to bottom, and that is the order Auto-switch follows. When a turn runs out of usage, AgentGrid moves the agent to the next model below the one that failed and sends the prompt again. Models that already ran out during this turn are skipped.

  • Drag a row's ⠿ grip to change its place. With the keyboard, focus the grip and press the Up or Down arrow key.
  • Star a model to add it to the end of the list. Unstar it to remove it.
  • If the agent runs on a model you haven't starred, Auto-switch leaves it alone.

A starred model can be tied to an account. Auto-switch moves to the next starred model and account, and skips accounts that are signed out or already out of usage.

If a provider reports a short rate limit, AgentGrid first waits and retries the same model a few times before moving down the list.

When the list runs out, the turn stops and shows the usage error, just as it would without Auto-switch.

Turn it off

Uncheck Auto-switch. A turn that runs out of usage then stops with the error, and you choose the next model yourself. Your starred list and its order stay as they are.
